Social Committee of State Council reviews efforts of “Haya Water” towards environment protection and combating pollution

The Social Committee of the State Council hosted today several officials of Haya Water (Oman Wastewater Services Company), to add value to its study of reviewing the “Law on Conservation of Environment and Prevention of Pollution” issued by Royal Decree No. (114/2001).

 

The third meeting of the second annual of the seventh term, headed by Hon.Dr. Ahmed bin Ali Al-Amri, Head of the Committee, and held in the presence of the honorable committee members and several General Secretariat employees, discussed with the company officials several topics related to the study. 

The discussion touched on the Legislations and Laws implemented by the company and internal regulations in the field of environmental preservation and combating pollution, its duplication and the multiplicity of laws concerned with environmental pollution and the extent of this impact on environmental protection, in addition to identifying the types of pollution that the company deals with, and the effort that it makes to combat pollution and preserve the environment.

The committee also addressed, during its hosting, the challenges facing the company in the field of environmental protection and pollution control, the company's proposals on current legislation and dealing with violations, the proposed legislation on these aspects, and the extent of coordination with government agencies and entities and the specializations that it deals with.

During the meeting, the committee hosted, Sulaiman bin Khamis Al Qasimi, Acting CEO, Hamad bin Hamoud Al Hashem, Director General of the Institutional Support Department and  Sukainah bint Hamad Al Munjiya, Head of the Environment and Climate Affairs Department.

The meeting approved the minutes of the previous meeting and the decisions taken therein were followed up, in addition to reviewing of the new work.
