Oman-Jordon discuss ways of enhancing cooperation

Omani delegation meets Jordanian Education minister, officials at Jordan Chamber of Commerce The delegation of the Omani-Jordanian Friendship Committee at the State Council, led by Hon.Mohammed bin Hamad al Masruri, Head of the Committee, met today the Jordanian Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr Adel al Twaisi to discuss ways of enhancing cooperation in the field of higher education. The delegation also visited the Jordan Chamber of Commerce to discuss with its officials strengthening of trade and economic and investment cooperation. Later on, they met Prof.Ahed Al Wahadni, Secretary General of Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The meeting focused on strengthening relations between the two countries in higher education and scientific research. The Secretary General expressed that Jordan is keen in developing educational cooperation with the Sultanate, noting the similarities between the two countries in the education sector. He spoke about the commonality in the development of the education sector under the wise leadership of both nations. They accord high priority to the progress of the citizens and deem it the base of national development, which is their ultimate goal. He commended the sustained progress of Omani education sector and added that Jordan had benefited from Omani experience in the field of technical education. Detailing the progress of Higher education in Jordon, he said that more than 1360 Omani students are registered in Jordon higher education institutions. Hon.Mohammed bin Hamad Al Masruri, underscored the high attention of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said to education for optimum development of their nation. He added that the Sultanate has come a long way in the development of higher education, which has enabled the Omani students to avail of the facilities offered by the Jordanian universities. He referred to the efforts of the Ministry of Higher Education in the Sultanate for efficient allotment of Omani students in University of Jordan, and called upon the Ministry of Higher education and scientific research of Jordan to cooperate with these efforts. HE Khamis bin Mohammed Al Farsi, Ambassador for Sultanate of Oman in Jordon and Cultural counsellor of the Embassy, Ismail Ibn Abdullah Al-Baluchi, attended the meet. The delegation includes members of the Omani-Jordanian Parliamentary Friendship Committee, namely: Hon.Dr. Muna Bint Abdullah Al Bahrania, the Hon. Dr. Bakhit Bin Ahmed Suhail Al-Mahri, the Hon. Saif bin Ali Shaikhan Al Amiri, the Sheikh Nasser bin Saeed Al Haddabi and the Hon.Mariam Issa Mohammed Al Zadjali and public relations personnel. The visit comes within the framework of strengthening bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries in various fields, enhancing and developing parliamentary relations and exchanging information and experience between them.
